🎢 Best Rides at Hollywood Studios

👧 Rides for Little Kids

While Hollywood Studios is known for its thrills, there are still a few great attractions perfect for your younger adventurers:

  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – A colorful, trackless ride where you step into a Mickey cartoon. It’s silly, adorable, and fun for the whole family.
  • Toy Story Mania! – A 3D arcade-style shooting game where everyone competes for the high score.
  • Alien Swirling Saucers – Think Mad Tea Party, but with aliens and techno music. Short, sweet, and perfect for first-time riders.
  • Disney Junior Play & Dance! – Toddlers will love seeing favorites like Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, and Timon in this interactive stage show.

💡 Pro Tip: For families with both little and big kids, Rider Switch is available on major thrill rides like Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (CLOSING 3/3/2026, aND REOPENING LATER THIS YEAR)

🧑‍🚀 Rides for Big Kids, Teens & Adults

If you’re here for the thrills, Hollywood Studios absolutely delivers. These are your must-do attractions:

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – This ride is more than a ride; it’s a full-blown adventure that puts you right in the middle of a Star Wars battle. An absolute must-do.
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – Fly the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. Work as a pilot, gunner, or engineer!
  • Slinky Dog Dash – A family-friendly coaster that’s fun and smooth with great views of Toy Story Land.
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – Classic Disney thrills. The storyline and theming are just as good as the free-fall drops!
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – A high-speed indoor coaster that goes from 0 to 60 in seconds. Not for the faint of heart. While this attraction will remain open for the remainder of 2025, it will close in March 3, 2026 for a reimagining into a Muppets-themed attraction.

Lightning Lane Tip: Prioritize Rise of the Resistance (Individual Lightning Lane), Slinky Dog Dash, and Tower of Terror if you’re using lightning lane.

🌟 Tips & Tricks for a Magical Day

  • 🚩 Rope Drop Strategy: Get to the park before opening to knock out popular rides early. Head straight to Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash.
  • ⚡️ Use Lightning Lane Wisely: Hollywood Studios has fewer rides than other parks, so use the Lightning Lane system for key rides like Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, and Runaway Railway.
  • 🔋 Recharge & Rest: Need a break? The Mickey Shorts Theater (next to Runaway Railway) offers AC and cute entertainment.
  • 🎒 Pack Light but Smart: A small backpack with water, ponchos, snacks, and a portable charger goes a long way.

🛍 Fun Extras

  • Build a Lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop – A bucket-list Star Wars experience. Reservations required.
  • Build a Droid at Droid Depot – Great for kids and collectors alike.
  • Character Meet & Greets – Meet Pixar pals, Star Wars heroes and villains, and classic characters like Minnie and Mickey near the Chinese Theater.
  • PhotoPass Magic Shots – Ask photographers for Star Wars and Toy Story-themed Magic Shots!

The iconic Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close on March 1, 2026 and reopen in summer 2026 with a fun Muppets theme. The coaster’s track will remain the same, but the storyline will shift to feature The Muppets — including The Electric Mayhem band and character animatronics — delivering a wacky, concert-style adventure.

🚀 Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run — New Missions (May 22, 2026)

One of the park’s most popular attractions is getting its biggest update yet! Starting May 22, 2026, Smugglers Run will feature new missions starring The Mandalorian and Grogu, new Star Wars destinations (like Bespin and the ruins of the Death Star), and even more immersive interactions for pilots, gunners, and engineers.

🎭 Animation Courtyard Reimagined as “The Walt Disney Studios” (2026)

Animation Courtyard is being transformed into The Walt Disney Studios Lot, a new immersive space inspired by Disney’s real-world animation studio in Burbank. This land will include:

  • The Magic of Disney Animation — an interactive experience featuring drawing activities, character interactions and visits inspired by Once Upon a Studio.
  • Updated character meet-and-greets and play spaces for guests of all ages.
  • A refreshed environment celebrating Disney’s storytelling and animation heritage.

🎪 Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! (Summer 2026)

Replacing the former Disney Jr. Play & Dance! show, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is set to debut in summer 2026. This interactive stage show will feature Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto, a great new option for families with younger kids.

🎶 Current New Shows (2025)

While not future additions, two live shows debuted in 2025 and are great park entertainment this year:

  • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure — A fully reimagined live musical in Animation Courtyard that retells Ariel’s story with new effects and performances.

🧱 Future Expansions — Monsters, Inc. Land

Disney has been developing plans for a Monsters, Inc.-themed land (often referred to as Monstropolis) near the former Muppet Courtyard area. While an official opening date hasn’t been announced, construction and concept displays suggest that this immersive land, including a suspended coaster and dark ride, is planned for future years beyond 2026.

Hollywood Studios is the perfect park for families who love movies, thrill rides, and immersive lands. From piloting the Millennium Falcon to singing along with Anna and Elsa, it’s a park that combines adrenaline with heart.
